Wine Details
Winemaking
Sourced from old vine Grenache plantings, the fruit for this wine was carefully hand harvested and then fermented in separate parcels to ensure clarity of vision throughout the fermentation and maturation. Time on skins ranged from 7-10 days with whole berry ferments and the inclusion of whole bunches at 0-50% depending on the parcel resulting in 15% whole bunch inclusion in the final blend. Maturation on fine lees in seasoned hogsheads and puncheons protects and lengthens the natural fruit vibrancy

Notes
Viticulture
The 2022 vintage overall was a very balanced and excellent vintage. Adequate rainfall in 2021 was followed a heavy hailstorm which did create some damage in the Shiraz vineyards. However, the main summer ripening season was blessed by moderate temperatures with no very hot (>35C) days and cool nights. This lead to a long and gentle ripening period allowing all fruit to achieve full flavour maturity along with sugar ripeness. The outcome was a long harvest period without any undue pressure from the weather and both white and red grapes showing great flavour intensity, excellent retention of acid and in the case of the red grapes, exceptional colour density.

This is immediately appealing on the nose, showing Black Doris plum, ripe strawberry, floral and subtle spice aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate that's filled with juicy fruit flavours, well supported by smooth texture and rounded tannins. Supple and soothing, making it delightfully drinkable.

A gorgeous Barossa Grenache, grab it for now or squirrel a few cases away in the cellar for the years to come. Garnet in colour, the nose is full of fresh fruits, notably red fruits with strawberries, raspberries, cherries – a red fruit fruit-salad. Silky tannins rather than the typical sandy Grenache style, this is of mid-length and with a seductive texture. The palate witnesses a further explosion of red fruits and floral notes. Now and for the next five years.
