This wine was carefully selected from our Eden Valley Riesling vineyard in the Flaxman Valley sub-region. It has all the hallmarks of great riesling. A tight zesty nose of cut limes and jasmine followed by a palate of juicy acidity, citrus, florals and wet stones provides a wine of racy intensity and length.

Wine Details
The fruit from our Batten vineyard was picked in the cool early hours of the morning and rushed to the winery for immediate crushing and pressing. The first drainings from the press were separated and only when the juice ran pure green and brimming with fresh citrus fruit was the selection for this wine made. Press was cut again at very low pressure and extraction to ensure only the 'heart' of the juice was taken. A cool ferment in stainless steel followed to retain character and aromatics.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Pale straw with hints of green
Aroma
Pretty and effusive nose of summer meadows, citrus florals, chalk and clean linen.
Palate
Clean, bright flavours of lemon and lime zest oil, lime cordial and hints of elderflower sit on a soft long core of brisk acidity. The fine balance of sweet lemon/lime fruit and crisp acid keep the palate structure long, taught and immensely satisfying.
Notes
Viticulture
The winter of 2023 was drier than usual and this continued through to November which prompted an earlier than usual bud burst and flowering. The vines had a reprieve in December and January with some rainfall that, combined with the warmer temperatures prompted rapid shoot growth and berry development. All signs pointed to an earlier than usual vintage and as expected, the whites ripened quickly but retained exceptional aromatic quality and naturaL acids.
