Our Blue Quarry range pays homage to the bluestone quarry in which our winery finds its home. Crafted from exceptional single vineyard sites, these wines showcase nuance, craftsmanship and a profound connection to the land, inviting a journey through the distinct character of each vineyard.

Soft red fruits, herbal lifts and cherry red flavours  abound on this gently structured and tightly wound wine.  Layers of biscuit red fruit and strawberry shortcake adorn a long and medium bodied  palate with a finish of lifted perfume and spice.

Vintage Report

The winter of 2023 was drier than usual and this continued through to November which prompted an earlier than usual bud burst and flowering. The vines had a reprieve in December and January with some rainfall that, combined with the warmer temperatures prompted rapid shoot growth and berry development. All signs pointed to an earlier than usual vintage and as expected, the whites ripened quickly but retained exceptional aromatic quality and naturaL acids. The reds followed and with smaller berries and lower yields they produced fruit of very high quality with great aromatic profiles, excellent colour and fruit intensity and strong tannin profiles across the board.

7 - 10 years

Vineyard Notes

Grower - GL & L Schrapel

Sourced from centenarian bush-vine Grenache planted in 1924 on the Manse block in the village of Bethany, this site sits on deep sand over clay, giving free draining soils that lend themselves to finely structured, aromatic Grenache. The vineyard’s gentle south-easterly aspect offers protection from the intensity of the western sun, providing the vines with natural relief and contributing to balance and finesse in the fruit
