Our Blue Quarry range pays homage to the bluestone quarry in which our winery finds its home. Crafted from exceptional single vineyard sites, these wines showcase nuance, craftsmanship and a profound connection to the land, inviting a journey through
the distinct character of each vineyard.

Sourced from the Survivor Grenache that is planted just below the winery, this wine is the darker, more powerful side of Grenache. Filled with red fruits at the darker end of the spectrum, aromatic spices, soft velvety tannins and a balanced long structure that completes the wine.

Vintage Report

The winter of 2023 was drier than usual and this continued through to November which prompted an earlier than usual bud burst and flowering. The vines had a reprieve in December and January with some rainfall that, combined with the warmer temperatures prompted rapid shoot growth and berry development. All signs pointed to an earlier than usual vintage and as expected, the whites ripened quickly but retained exceptional aromatic quality and naturaL acids. The reds followed and with smaller berries and lower yields they produced fruit of very high quality with great aromatic profiles, excellent colour and fruit intensity and strong tannin profiles across the board.

Aging Potential

5 - 10 years

Technical

Vineyard Notes

Grower - GL & L Schrapel

One of our most powerful Grenache blocks sits just below the winery, where 50+ year old vines are rooted in deep red-brown earth. The intensity of the soil, combined with a sunny westerly aspect, produces a wine of deep colour and dark fruit character. Cooling gully breezes provide overnight relief, preserving balance and freshness. The vineyard’s contoured rows were originally planted to minimise soil erosion, shaping both the landscape and the wine.
