Our Blue Quarry range pays homage to the bluestone quarry in which our winery finds its home. Crafted from exceptional single vineyard sites, these wines showcase nuance, craftsmanship and a profound connection to the land, inviting a journey through
the distinct character of each vineyard.

One of the most classically structured vineyards in the Bethany Wines stable.  Clay loam over a calcareous subsoil, the wine has all the deep dark fruit we expect of the Barossa along with lifted aromatics and refreshing acidity that maintains drive, balance and ageability.

Vintage Report

The winter of 2023 was drier than usual and this continued through to November which prompted an earlier than usual bud burst and flowering. The vines had a reprieve in December and January with some rainfall that, combined with the warmer temperatures prompted rapid shoot growth and berry development. All signs pointed to an earlier than usual vintage and as expected, the whites ripened quickly but retained exceptional aromatic quality and naturaL acids. The reds followed and with smaller berries and lower yields they produced fruit of very high quality with great aromatic profiles, excellent colour and fruit intensity and strong tannin profiles across the board.

Aging Potential

7 - 15 years

Technical

Alc 14.5% TA 6.2g/L pH 3.62 100% Shiraz

Vineyard Notes

Grower - RM & A Schrapel

A long block of Shiraz planted in the clay loam soils of Bethany village. Not the full black cracking clays found further west along Bethany Road, this site is defined by rich, clay-heavy topsoil over a calcareous subsoil, textbook conditions for crafting
exceptional red wines. The vineyard strikes a natural balance between structure and expression, allowing the fruit to develop
both depth and clarity. The result is a compelling apotheosis of dark fruit, dense structure and lifted aromatics with a sense of place that speaks clearly in the glass
