East Grounds Shiraz 2018

Award Winner

A single vineyard wine of great pedigree and finesse. Dark berry and cherry fruits dominate the nose and palate with a spicy, earthy complexity and fine grained velvet tannins creating a framework that carries the fruit through to a long and elegant finish.

"Designed to showcase the subregional character of shiraz from the eastern Barossa ridges, coming from the highest block of Bethany’s Schrapel family vineyards. The fruits here lean to the red spectrum rather than black. There are more floral notes than you might expect in a regional context, the palate minerally and earthy as well. All added up, this is a very smart, neatly toned, terroir-focused expression."95pts Halliday Wine Companion 2022

The fifth release of the East Grounds Shiraz, the 2018 vintage is all about site.

The Barossa Foothills covers Bethany, Krondorf and Vine Vale. Its black cracking clays (Biscay soils) are a key influence on the area’s wines. These vineyards are alluvial and fertile, which produces wines with intense red berry aromas and earthy undertones. These wines also have soft and inviting round middle palates and rarely display firm tannins.

Perfect with roasted white meats, gnocchi or tomato based pasta dishes.
