Our Wines

We’ve cemented our place as one of the best Barossa wineries by consistently producing great wines.

Our range of wines have evolved over the years with a focus on old-vine Shiraz and Grenache. We source our grapes predominately from our own vineyards and neighbouring growers in the Barossa and Eden Valleys.

New generations continue to discover and enjoy Bethany Wines.

Chapters - Reserve Wines

Our Bethany Reserve wines celebrate two chapters of Schrapel family history. The LE Shiraz pays tribute to the dedication of Lawrence and Edna Schrapel. As fourth generation vignerons they tended to the Schrapel family vineyards for over 60 years before passing the legacy onto their sons, Geoff and Robert. The LE Shiraz expresses the true characteristics of Shiraz grown on the eastern edge of the Barossa Ranges.

The GR Shiraz commemorates current custodians and fifth generation brothers Geoff and Robert. The GR is crafted from the oldest, low yielding Shiraz vines in the Schrapel family vineyards with fruit harvested at optimum flavour development and complexity. The GR Shiraz has been inducted into Barossa Trust Mark. This recognises products and experiences that show achievement and distinction in origin, integrity, quality, environment, and community.

Blue Quarry Wines

From 1846 to the early 1930s, the Schrapel family operated the quarry at Bethany. Early pioneers used bluestone from the quarry to build their homes, many of which still stand today. Today, the winery and cellar door sit within the old quarry, encircled by an integral part of Barossa history.

We craft our Blue Quarry wines from single vineyard fruit. These wines celebrate Bethany’s exceptional and historical fruit source.

First Village Wines

Bethany was the first European settlement in the Barossa Valley, established in 1842 by German immigrants from Silesia. Johann Schrapel planted the first vines on Bethany Estate in 1852. This ignited a passion for winemaking, a tradition that continues within the family seven generations later.

Our First Village label tells the story of the village’s establishment in the German folkloric paper cutting art "Scherenschnitte"

Stickies and Fortified Wines

As testimony to our Germanic heritage we craft an Auslese style Riesling called Select Late Harvest.

The popularity of our Old Quarry Fronti (Barossa white port) and Old Quarry Tawny (red port) continues to grow.
