"The philosophy at Bethany Wines has remained constant for more than 30 years - to produce exceptional wines that show the flavours of the family vineyards and are a natural reflection of the microclimate of the Barossa Ranges" - Geoff Schrapel.

Re(wine)d by Julie Frahm - 2017 SALA Festival

Cellar Door
August 1 to August 30, 2017

In Cellar Door, we welcome glass bead artist, Julie Frahm. Her exhibition, Re(wine)d, is her 10th SALA exhibition. Julie has visited Bethany Wines to find inspiration and to collect wine bottles to transform into new glass jewellery creations.

In 2009 she had her first exhibition of recycled glass bead jewellery at Lustre Galleries, where the range was well received by the public, and also earned her second prize in the Jam Factory Contemporary Craft and Design Award.  In 2013 Julie was shortlisted as a finalist in the Toowoomba Contemporary Wearables Award Exhibition for one of her Coopers Ale and Gold Leaf necklaces.  In 2014 two of Julie’s necklaces were selected as finalists in the MAGE Contemporary Glass Jewellery Award exhibition.

Julie has trained with several leading glass beadmakers in the USA, but her journey into making beads from recycled sources has been experimental.  She continues to push the boundaries in terms of what can be done, however there are some limitations with this glass that she is always mindful of.
We are delighted to be able to share with you her stunning and unique jewellery.
